Lib Dem slams MPs for scrapping EMA

Lib Dem MPs who supported government plans to scrap EMA have been slammed by a leading Lib Dem. Irfan Ahmed who is a local community leader and a Lib Dem activist has called for answers from the MPs who voted to scrap EMA.

Irfan Ahmed who himself recieved EMA has claimed that Lib Dem MP have by voting with the government helped the Tories force many young people away from education.

Irfan Ahmed said:

"Thanks to the actions of just a handful of MPs, thousands of young people will this September be considering whether to go onto college or not due to financial restraints.

"The Tory led government has taken away the driving force that led people into education and then onto graduating and having professional careers."

Irfan added that he would not have been in the position he is in today had it not been for EMA. He also said that he believes the new proposals to replace EMA are a farce and the government should reconsider its plans to scrap EMA for college students.

Mr Ahmed also congratulated Mr John Leech, the MP for Manchester Withington for voting against the government.
